Crestbridge team member gearing up for 100km Ultra to support Youthful Minds
An extraordinary endurance challenge to raise youth mental health awareness.
On 23 May, Josh will take on a 100km ultra marathon — a challenge that demands grit, discipline and a strong mindset. But for Josh, this isn’t just about distance; it’s about purpose.
In this Q&A, he shares what inspired him to start running, how he’s prepared for one of his biggest tests yet, and why he’s passionate about raising awareness for youth mental health in Jersey in support of our chosen charity, Youthful Minds.
Why is raising awareness for youth mental health so important to you?
Raising awareness for youth mental health is important to me because I know how easily young people can struggle in silence, and how much of a difference it makes when support and understanding is available early on.
Why do you feel Youthful Minds is such an important charity to support?
They focus on creating safe spaces, breaking down stigma, and making sure young people have the tools and confidence to speak up and seek help when they need it most.
How have you been preparing for the race?
I’ve been preparing through a mix of different training, not just running. I’ve been doing swimming sessions to help with recovery and reduce strain on my body, as well as weight training to build strength and muscle endurance. It’s been about creating balance so I’m as physically and mentally ready as possible for the race.
You only started long distance running fairly recently. What encouraged you to take it up?
I took up long-distance running after losing my grandad — I wanted to channel that period of my life into something more positive.
We wish Josh every success as he takes on this challenge in support of our chosen charity, Youthful Minds.
